YALE HELLENIC SOCIETY
Representing Greek Culture and Values at Yale University.
WHAT DO WE DO?
The Yale Hellenic Society is one of the most active cultural groups at Yale.
DISCUSSING POLITICS
The Hellenic Society attempts to promote issues related to te importance of Hellenism in the modern world. As such, we organize a plethora of political events, renging from roundtable discussions to large scale speaker events.
We aim to attract speakers related to Greek culture, heritage and politics, and allow their views to be shared with the entire Yale community. Contemporary issues that fascinate us are the financial future of Greece, immigration, the profound brain drain that plagues the country, the role of Greece in Europe, as well as integration of Greek emigrants to the United States.
EMBRACING CULTURE
The Hellenic Society holds a variety of social and cultural events every year. Last year we had mixers with LASO and YEU and both turned out to be a huge success. We love music, we love dancing and so do others on campus. We therefore join our forces to provide the Yale community with some pretty cool parties.
Our greatest cultural event is our “Easter Celebration” in the spring; the campus has a very vivid Greek element that day: Greek food, lamb, music and friends from any background make us miss home less. This year we aim to have the two above mentioned mixers as well as one with SAS, which would be a blast! Everyone is more than welcome to our events and a great time is guaranteed. The “real Greeks on campus” through the best events, do not miss it. It might not “be all Greek to you” after this experience.
SPREADING OUR VALUES
Beyond organizing events for the Greek community, the Yale Hellenic Society also promotes the spirit of Hellenism on campus. By reaching out to members of the Greek-American diaspora, as well as organizing various discussions with the wider Yale community, the YHS does not simply preserve Greek culture, but it also expands it.

Come and join us to our weekly board meetings! Everyone is welcome and we cherish new ideas and fresh perspectives. We are a small but rigorously active society, so your voice will be heard and you input will unfold. Find us every Saturday morning in Sterling Memorial Library or Kellari.
